Dead Ball vs. Time

As most are now aware, Softball Canada has changed the former "TIME" mechanic to "DEAD BALL" in certain situations.  These situations include:

Leadoffs
Interference
Stopping play following delayed dead ball situations
Batter hit by pitch
Ball pitched, batted or thrown out of play
Ball batted twice

"TIME" is still to be used when the umpire is performing administrative duties such as:

Line-up changes
Coach or player requests time
Umpire sweeping the plate or pitcher's rubber

The new "DEAD BALL" mechanic DOES NOT replace "FOUL."  When a ball is batted foul, the verbal "FOUL" is still to be used.
